"Long drives can put more strain on a supercar than most owners expect. Higher temperatures, sustained speeds, and extra mileage all place additional demands on the vehicle, so it's worth carrying out a few simple checks before setting off.

The Seven Checks Before a Road Trip

1. Tyres

"Firstly, it's important to check tyres before driving long distances. Heat can cause tyre pressure to rise, while worn or underinflated tyres pose a risk of blowing out at speed, especially on a heavily loaded supercar.

"Therefore, it's vital to check tread depth and pressure, while also adjusting for any extra weight being carried, before beginning a long journey such as a road trip.

2. Fluid levels

"Oil, coolant and brake fluid all work harder in hot weather, particularly over longer distances. Low or degraded fluid levels can lead to overheating or reduced braking performance when it matters most.

"Owners should check all fluid levels are topped up and look for any signs of leaks underneath the vehicle before a long drive.

3. Cooling system

"Supercars generate significant heat under load, and a cooling system that isn't performing properly can quickly lead to overheating on a long, hot journey.
